CD Review: Love In The Future by John Legend

[review]

John Legend comes back with his 4th solo album after his collaboration with the Roots on the album “Wake Up!” which included the major hit “Wake Up Everybody”. “Love In The Future” will probably make his fans happy. He has spoiled us with songs like “Ordinary People” (written by Will I Am… and I wonder where the hell has THAT Will I Am gone?), “This time”, “Quickly” or “Green Light”, so some songs might still sound flat. Nevertheless, Legend’s voice and fine piano playing are as usual the best he has to offer, which is a lot considering what he did with  “All of me” . “For The First Time”, “Made To Love”, the duet with Seal “We loved it”, the first single “Who do we think we are”, “Save the night”, the short trumpet solo on “You and I” or the moment at the close of “Dreams” where the vocal turns into a vocoder line, or the Pink Floyd-ish “Asylum”, they’re all so good that they keep the album away from falling under the flat line.
