Vampire Weekend Return with Two New Tracks

After almost six years Vampire Weekend have finally made their long awaited comeback, dropping two new tracks from upcoming album ‘Father of The Bride’.  The two new tracks show the band going in slight change of direction musically but still maintaining that happy go lucky innocence and charm the band have always worn on their sleeve.

The first track, Harmony Hall is a fun bouncy and happy song, the chorus is big catchy and sits atop a soulful Primal Scream sounding piano. As the song builds into a huge feel good ending you’re suddenly reminded of everything that made you love Vampire Weekend in the first place, the positivity, the feel good factor and the emotion vocalist Ezra Koenig manages to project into the songs. Musically the song sounds great too, the change in sound is just enough to stop them the band sounding saturated after such a long musical absence.

2021, the other song released by the band is a much different affair. The song is short, slow and much sadder than Harmony Hall; it’s a track about looking into the future with a kind of wary hopefulness. Despite its short length, the song puts across some interesting sounds and conveys a lot of emotion over a short period of time.

It’s been a long time coming but Vampire Weekend are back and releasing music as good as ever. With new a new album on the not so distant horizon the band look set to make 2019 their year.
