After smashing 10,000 views of their new video, “Curtain Call” in few days, The Citizen’s homonymous debut album, due out in the next weeks, delivers a surprisingly enjoyable melodic rock. The guys from the southern city of Italy, Salerno, propose interesting hints at Cold Play, Muse and 30 Seconds to Mars, who all seem to be their main inspiration, adding to the recipe the all-Italian love for melody. “Panik Attack”, “Curtain Call” and “You and I” being classic mellow rock tracks that make you want to listen to the album over and over again, the Pink-Floydian “This Time” is the real surprise of the whole album. Beautiful guitars, good vocal performance, sudden changes of atmospheres and a crescendo that promises to propel the band where they belong: a much wider audience.
