Someone Dumpen Jared Leto’s Ego Before It Blows Him Up

Ok, considering the fact that you expect rockstars to have a huge ego, that doesn’t mean they are allowed to treat fans, the very people who took them to the top, like shit. Pardon, I lost my Royal demeanor for a moment, but it really gets on my nerves when I see very young fans waiting hours to get a glimpse of their idol (and God only knows how on earth can they love Jared Leto & Co. anyway?) and in return being treated like numbers by such a grandstander (who owes a huge part of his success to his looks) who wouldn’t even deserve that kind of attention. On June 18, Jared Leto and 30 Seconds To Mars were at music store HMV in London to sign their new (amazingly terrible) CD. The first 400 fans buying the album on that day were granted a bracelet allowing them to enter the restricted area where the band would “grant” their autographs. I was there to accompany a friend of mine who’s – unfortunately for her – a fan and to take some photos. Despite Leto’s efforts to make it look “lovely” and “warm” and “wonderful” through his fake, made-up tweets, what I saw there was quite disturbing. First of all, the three were wearing shades, so the fans couldn’t even look them in the eyes. It’s a question of good manners, whether you’re a rockstar or not (after all, who gives a damn?), to make sure that you take off your sunglasses when you meet someone. Second, they sat behind a table, anyone approaching them couldn’t take pictures. Fans would go to the table like workmen in a production line, quickly – very quickly – had to hand over their copy of the CD, which the three would “scribble” without even bothering signing in full. The treatment was far from anything that has to do with gratitude or humbleness. All I could see were three big heads. In my life I had the chance to meet many celebrities, Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey on top: I’ve never seen them acting anything even close to these three “gentlemen”. So I guess if the more humble the bigger the star, this makes 30 Seconds To Mars and Jared Leto what I already suspected: a very small, insignificant dot in a sky full of real stars.

Oh, for God’s sake, just a final note for all those insane self-titled music lovers who dare comparing them to Pink Floyd: don’t, just don’t, please, don’t.
