Venue: The Lexington
Date: September 20, 2015

The evening of Cuckoolander‘s live show at The Lexington started with a slow kick by duo Xylaroo, followed by super-talented Iris Gold, who this summer walked on the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park alongside Taylor Swift and Blur. Gold’s entertaining talent is undoubtedly hard to ignore: Her stage presence, confidence and vocal abilities are second to few, her acid 70s soul sound old but fresh at the same time, her presence easy to the eye.

Cuckoolander walked on stage slightly later than expected, but the wait was definitely worth. Apart from a faulty amplifier that spoiled the electric guitars at the very start of the show, singer Holly Hardy oozed with confidence through a string of strong elecro pop tunes. Coming across with an hybrid between Garbage, No Doubt and Blondie, the English band delivered a sound that kept the audience lapping up every beat and sincerely enjoying every moment of the show.

Highly recommended if you’re looking for outsider pop.
