A quick word with Grammy Award winner Gregory Porter at Calling Festival

Grammy-Award winning American jazz star, songwriter and actor Gregory Porter was in London last June to join the incredible line up artists who preceded Stevie Wonder‘s show at the Calling Festival in Clapham (London), so we had the occasion to have a short conversation on sharing the stage with the Motown legend and today’s music.

Q: How does it feel to be here at the Calling Festival in London?
A: Great! The reason I’m here is to perform and share the stage with Stevie Wonder. That’s an extraordinary experience, whether the weather holds up or not, it’s an extraordinary thing. It’s great, I told my friends what I was doing, now you can talk to your friends all over the world in an instant. All of them were sending me congratulations like I’ just had a new baby.

Q: What do you think of the state of mainstream music today?
A: The interesting thing is everything is out there today. My thoughts are probably the promotion ended the music. Everybody has the right to make the music that they wanna make, but if it’s music with a soulful expression, and thoughtful, organic, human expression it’s not promoted as well as hip hop, booty shake, all of them, you know what I mean.

Gregory is currently touring the world, so don’t miss your chance to enjoy his beautiful voice and great music.
